THE NEWS GUIDE AWARDS for 2005

Winner: ‘A Few Good Men’ - Portsmouth group CCADS hit the stage at The Third Floor arts centre in Portsmouth before the current West End version.

John-Paul McCrohon, artistic director or CCADS, received the trophy for his production of
‘A Few Good Men’. Judges thought it dazzled audiences at The Third Floor Arts Centre even before a starry new West End version arrived on the scene. John-Paul says he was as
tounded to win the award.
“I am particularly pleased that it was a mixture of a public vote and judges’ choice, and grateful for the support given by The Guide to amateur theatre”.
The rise and rise of CCADS – formerly a church hall group known as Corpus Christi Amateur Dramatic Society – has been an outstanding feature of the Portsmouth theatre scene in recent years. Under the inspired leadership of its young, enterprising and apparently tireless director, it takes on a range of often unusual repertoire – including both musicals and straight plays with equal assurance
.
